Galen University Students Participate in MentHERship Workshop

Galen University students participated in MentHERship, a workshop exploring intellectual property and its role in supporting women entrepreneurs. Hosted by CarIPI and BELIPO on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the workshop brought together entrepreneurs and representatives from organizations across Belize.

Wendy Hollingsworth of CarIPI introduced the basics of intellectual property and guided entrepreneurs through an exercise to identify intellectual property connected to their businesses. BELIPO representatives explained services such as intellectual property searches and registration, as well as the benefits of protecting business assets.

The workshop also covered intellectual property enforcement. Tanisha Vernon of Tuk Tuk Belize Tours shared her experience with registration and enforcement in Belize, giving participants a practical example from a local business.

The workshop gave students an opportunity to learn from entrepreneurs and explore how intellectual property can help protect and strengthen a business.
