Primary Education Professor

Dr. Ruth Reneau is a Professor of Education in Elementary Education at Galen University, where she also serves as an academic advisor for students in the Elementary Education Program. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Education from Oklahoma State University in 2024, specializing in Language, Literacy, and Culture with a cognate in Reading.

Her dissertation, Improving Reading Fluency of High School English Language Learners Using Readers Theatre Paired with TikTok, reflects her innovative approach to integrating technology with literacy instruction. Dr. Reneau’s scholarly contributions include co-authoring Belizean Voices: Reflection, Consideration and Response (World of Words, 2021) and publishing her doctoral dissertation in ProQuest (2024). She has presented widely on literacy, curriculum innovation, and educational leadership, including at the Literacy Research Association Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, and the COBEC Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Reneau’s work emphasizes improving reading fluency, advancing literacy across content areas, and supporting adolescent learners in technology-rich environments. In addition to her teaching and research, she is actively engaged in professional service through organizations such as the COBEC Research Committee, the Oklahoma Literacy Association, and the International Literacy Association, and has served as Secretary of the Belize City Lions Club. She has mentored numerous students and continues to support Indigenous youth development through initiatives such as GARIU. Dr. Reneau remains dedicated to advancing literacy education, empowering teachers, and fostering equitable learning opportunities in Belize and beyond.
