PHIL-240 SOCIAL AND POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY

(3 CREDITS)
What are the fundamental principles of political life? What is the proper role of government in the life of society? Where should the line be drawn between individual freedom and social control? This course is about how these and related questions have been addressed by political philosophers in the Western tradition. Although the main focus is on contemporary views, some attention is given to historical antecedents of these views.
