This course examines the strategies of written discourse, concentrating on the whole essay and emphasizing expository and persuasive prose. Attention is given to the mechanics of English and correct grammatical forms. The goal of the course is directed toward the process of gaining rhetorical fluency, i.e. the discovery of the most suitable stylistic means of informing and appealing to a particular audience.
