Study of inter4connected marine ecosystems from estuaries to deep ocean benthic communities, emphasizing description of major marine ecosystem components; exchange of energy, nutrients and organisms among these systems and affects of terrestrial watersheds in coastal zone to even deep ocean communties. Field experiences involve exploration of tropical mangrove, grassbed, coral reef and unvegetated sediment systems.
