BIOL-450 SKELETAL BIOLOGY |

(4 CREDITS) This course will review human skeletal anatomy. An understanding of the human skeleton is fundamental to many fields of inquiry, including biological anthropology, paleontology, anatomy, archaeology, and forensics. Functional aspects will be considered for each bone or bone complex in the body. In addition, such issues as paleopathology, paleodemographic reconstruction, forensic anthropology, and osteoarcheology will be addressed. The focus will be on a detailed treatment of skeletal anatomy, the determination of age, sex and ancestry from skeletal remains, and the quantification of skeletal morphology.
