*TOUR-200 TOURISM PRACTICUM

(3 CREDITS)

In this basic practicum, students will work for 90 hrs during the semester to get a general overview of the hotel/tourism field. They are able to meet people in the industry and to work in an employer-employee, employee-guest environment. The student will gain specific experience in the range of entry level positions so that they will gain an appreciation for this level of work in the industry. For example, students might work as waiters, in the kitchen, as janitorial staff, providing support for tour guides, etc. The student’s written work (logbook and paper) relates their workplace training and experiences to their academic course of study.
