Sustainable, beneficial and successful tourism is the result of careful planning and managed growth that has the active participation from both the public and private sectors of the economy. This course will look at the principles behind policy formation and planning as well as the process through which policies are developed. Belize and other countries will be used as examples of both the positive and negative effects policy planning have had on the development of the tourism industry.
