Galen University Announces New President!

Galen University is pleased to announce that Dr. Nancy Adamson will become the President of the University in October 2010! Dr. Adamson, who was an original founding member of the University, is presently serving as Provost. She has been with Galen University since its inception in 2003, in posts which include professor, CEO and vice president. 

She holds a BA in History from Mt Holyoke College, a B.Sc.N in nursing from the University of Toronto, a MA in History from Emory University, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Toronto. Dr. Adamson has been involved in university administration for over twenty years, and has been a lecturer since 1979. Her area of expertise continues to be gender issues, women’s studies, and confronting sexual harassment in the workplace.

The new president of Galen was recommended by Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Acting President, and was confirmed by the Advisory Board for Academic Affairs at its meeting held on May 7, 2010. Her recommendation and confirmation were made because of her extensive university administration experience, her proven history of scholarly activities, and the loyalty she has already garnered from the faculty and staff at the university due to her competence and commitment.

Galen University, opened its doors in 2003 with fourteen students. Today we have an enrollment of 343 students.  At the graduation ceremony which will be held on October 2, Dr. Nancy Adamson will be installed as Galen’s President, 55 students will receive undergraduate degrees, and 40 will receive master’s degrees.

The Chairman, the Advisory Board for Academic Affairs, faculty, staff, and students join in congratulating Dr. Nancy L Adamson in her appointment as president of Galen University which takes effect in October 2010.
