Galen University hosted 25 scholarship recipients for a fun packed day of excitement and expectations, Tuesday, July 17.   The administration, faculty and staff celebrated the incoming students’ successes and challenged them to contribute their best to the Galen community. 

20-year-old Ashanti Garcia, a student at Galen University, has been chosen as the personality of the month. Garcia was chosen by Teens Belize, a non-profit organization based on Punta Gorda Town.  She is the first Cayo resident to receive a personality of the month award. Teen Belize Charity Affiliates say she won them over with an original quote that says, “The only thing that can kill me is death. The hardships, ups and downs, trials and tribulations that we as human beings must experience will only make us stronger after we survive then.” 

Ashanti is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology with a minor in Archaeology. She is also the current Communication Director for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
