Life is different at the 17th parallel. It’s slower and less hectic. Belize is in the sub tropics, just south of the Yucatan Peninsula and east of Guatemala. It is an incredibly beautiful place to study and live when one comes with realistic expectations. April and May can be very hot. The forests and mountains create cooler nights. Air conditioning is a luxury but Galen University has air conditioning in its offices and classrooms. There are the dry months from February to May, and the rainy season from June to November. The mean temperature varies from 81°F/ 27°C along the coast to 69°F/21°C in the hills. The coldest month is January while the highest temperatures are experienced during the month of May.
