Belize, the Country

There are only about 300,000 people in country. Compare that to where you live …. It is a parliamentary democracy and independent as of 1981. There are six Districts that make up Belize, like states or provinces. San Ignacio/Santa Elena, the twin towns, often referred to as Cayo (same as the district), is the area where the University and the student housing are located. The twin towns are the second most populated area in the country with Belize City on the coast being the largest. Belmopan, the capital of the country, is also in the Cayo District.
