Dear Student,

Welcome and thank you for choosing Galen University. We are confident that we will live up to your high expectations of receiving a quality education that will prepare you well for the academic and professional challenges that you will meet in life. We are also confident that Galen University will provide you with an excellent foundation for lifelong learning.

Galen University has a strong commitment to sustainable development and this may be one of the main reasons you chose to attend Galen University. Another reason may be acquiring a degree from University of Indianapolis in the United States. Other reasons may include following the advice of friends and high school classmates, the attractiveness of the loan program, etc. Whatever the reason, you chose Galen, in part, because you believe the faculty and staff have something special to offer you and you want to be a part of Galen’s success story.

What you may not have focused on is the incredibly important part you play in your success as a student and in our success as a university committed to excellence, to respect for diversity, and to working for a world where justice and human rights prevail.

The world of the 21st century is complex and its challenges many and serious. We will assist you in every way we can to explore the issues and challenges of our core courses and all the ones in your chosen field. We know that the acquisition of knowledge and skills takes hard work. Our acceptance of you means we are confident that you are “up to the challenge.” With you, we will grapple with how to put into practice what is needed to ensure a sustainable planet for future generations and to respond in concrete ways to the complex challenges of climate change, global warming, poverty and inequality, among others.

I sincerely hope you will take full advantage of the opportunities that your time at Galen University offers. We want you to enjoy your life as a Galen University student. Get to know your fellow students especially those who differ from you in some significant way, visit your faculty during their office hours, make use of the Writing Lab and other support services, join a club, participate in a sport, be part of a community service project, and attend lectures and cultural events. Learn both inside and outside the classroom. You are depending on us, but we are also depending on you to make this experience rich in multiple ways.

Warm best wishes to you as you begin your studies at Galen University. I look forward to meeting each of you – my door is always open. Again, WELCOME.
