E. GRIEVANCES Should a student have cause to request a review of any treatment he/she has received during any portion of the academic program, a grievance procedure may be undertaken. Such grievances may include complaints regarding grades or evaluation, program requirements, violation of academic freedom, sexual, racial, or religious discrimination, or harassment, and all other grievances. An individual student may undertake a grievance procedure; it cannot not be presented as a group submission. All grievances, including requests for changes in grades and/or comments, must be carried out within ten (10) working days following the incident or the notification of the grade and written evaluation. (Grades are will be made available to students in a timely manner after the end of classes. It is the student’s responsibility to review their grade as soon as it is available.) Step 1:The first step in resolving a grievance is to talk with the person involved. Students are expected to discuss the issues with the faculty, staff, or fellow-student with whom they have an issue. Step 2: If no resolution is found in Step 1, then the student may talk with the Registrar, International Student Advisor, or their Faculty Advisor about the issue. Those people can help the student understand the issue and search for solutions. Step 3: If no solution can be found in Step 2, the student may put the issue in writing and send to the Dean or Provost. Any relevant documents should accompany the letter and the student may deliver the letter in person to discuss the issue. The Dean or Provost will respond to the written grievance within two weeks (10 working days) of receipt of the written complaint. If that should be impossible, the student will be notified in writing of a new timeline. The decision of the Dean/Provost is final.
